Cold Chain Logistics Totaled 6.40 Trillion Yuan in the First Three Quarters

A survey conducted by the Cold Chain Logistics Committee of China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing (CFLP) shows that in the first three quarters, the overall demand of the cold chain logistics industry has steadily improved and the market scale has continued to expand, with the total amount of cold chain logistics amounting to RMB 6.40 trillion, representing a year-on-year growth of 4.2%. Among them, the growth in the third quarter was 4.5%, 0.8 percentage points higher than that in the second quarter. The total revenue of cold chain logistics was RMB 417.8 billion, up 3.6% year-on-year.
The survey shows that since the third quarter, fresh agricultural products have entered the peak consumption season, and demand for cold chain logistics has steadily increased, driven by the recovery of the catering industry and fresh food e-commerce. Catering revenue in the first three quarters amounted to RMB 3,941.5 billion, up 6.2% year-on-year. Rural e-tailing sales increased by 8.3%, while e-tailing sales of agricultural products increased by 18.3%. The national fruit e-tailing sales in the first three quarters increased by 11.94% year-on-year, of which the growth performance of fresh fruit was particularly outstanding, with a growth rate of 18.23%.
According to the report, in order to adapt to the rapid development of cold chain logistics demand, under the support of relevant national policies, the cold chain infrastructure construction represented by cold storage has been steadily advancing, and the amount of investment in the construction of cold storage has continued to grow. According to incomplete statistics, the capital investment in cold storage projects in the first three quarters amounted to RMB 36.507 billion, with a year-on-year growth of 7.53%. Enterprises purchased new energy refrigerated truck enthusiasm. The sales of new energy refrigerated trucks in the first three quarters were 9,257 units, an increase of 230.96% year-on-year, and the penetration rate of new energy refrigerated trucks was 22.4%, an increase of 15.8 percentage points year-on-year. The equipment renewal ratio of new energy refrigerated trucks in first-tier cities is 50-60%.
